Work Time

Greetings! We've had a great couple days working on and sharing our ideas on our choice projects. We are continually impressed level of participation and enthusiasm with this group of teachers. Great job, Julia, discussing Glogster as well.

Keep up the good work.

Our very own Megan Strathman's cousin helped set up ACU to be iPod-driven. Check out these two videos to see their introduction videos for students.

Thanks for sharing, Meghan!

Good Thursday!

Today we worked to develop a Prezi and iMovie assessment tool. It has been updated on the Google Document "Grading," and has been emailed out so you all have the most accurate grading information. Take a look at it over the weekend and we can have any and all discussions about them on Monday.

We are looking forward to your iMovie projects! The creativity was fun to see! Keep it up!

Below are two links . . . 1.) Piano Stairs 2.) Awareness test (fun)

Good morning CADRE Teachers!

Thanks to Stephanie for her introduction to www.wallwishers.com! This website generated many ideas. Below are a list of ideas that we generated about potential uses for Wall Wishers. See if any apply to you!

  • Sharing ideas as a staff
  • Review for a final test - use as a discussion board
  • Trouble-shooting with peers/colleagues
  • Weekly reviews
  • Use as a Plus/Delta to make improvements to a lesson/activity/etc.
  • Brainstorming tool
  • Share and discuss field trip experiences
  • Link to the class website to get parents involved
  • Utilize for writing prompts

I hope your time at the library was valuable and you are feeling better about your projects for your other class. Today in class we are going to be focusing on Prezi! You will see examples, have opportunities to see a Prezi being made in a time lapse video, and have lots of time experimenting with the functions of Prezi.

I think everyone appreciated having some work time today in class. Prezi is a beast that you must play and experiment with to be proficient at using effectively.

Interesting articles . . . with a commercial to start . . .

Here are some interesting tech-related things to read . . .

New Google Search News . . . could this impact your students?

Do teens need a break from all of this technology?

E-readers in schools . . . check it out.

Good Monday to you all!

What a great day again! Thanks, Anna, for starting the Facebook Group page for our class as a means of collaborating and group problem solving. It was fun to watch your idea "grow" through your blog post and now see it in action. Thanks!

Today we discussed the "technology above/below the line" thoughts and had some good conversation. I hope the explanation of the Voicethread Assessment Tool was clear and understandable and you feel comfortable taking your "next steps" with this assignment. Feel free to ask your cohorts via FB or email us if you have questions. Continue to experience the full range of impact of blogs! Comment on others and they will likely comment on yours.

Choice Project - the big daddy of the day! I set the bar pretty high with Christie Rushenberg's Facebook template, but setting the bar high is a good thing. High expectations promote high achievement! Several of you have had conversations with me about potential choice project ideas. We haven't turned down an idea yet, but a question I ask many is, "How can you tie this to an instructional goal?" Instructional goals can be as simple as, "Students will demonstrate knowledge of their classmates by listening to student Glog descriptions and writing one fact about each of their classmates."

Thanks to the Blabberize folks today, Laura B., Molly B., Casey B., the other Molly B(rown) and Abby F.! Thanks for your unique pictures and showing us a little more about who you are. :)

Thanks to Dr. Goeman and Susan for their help to get everything ready for your laptops!

Homework Assignment: Blog and establish a Prezi username and password.

Have a great rest of the day . . . see you soon!

Wow! What a great day we had in class today! The ideas and questions were flowing, and that helps make our learning environment effective . . . let's keep this going CADRE Teachers!

Today we were introduced to two websites from Calla. Delicious - http://delicious.com/ and Voki - http://www.voki.com/. Thanks for doing this Calla! Delicious is a great site to always have your favorite bookmarks, but also to share the wonderful resources you discover with your friends and colleagues. The "tag" feature is pretty neat too!

Next, Ross showed us http://www.bitstrips.com/ and we had time to play with a cartoon, and in many cases, create a comic strip that CADRE Teachers can use to supplement a lesson. There were many good conversations about how this could be used to facilitate learning and we believe the good ideas will just keep coming.

Last, we conducted a Gallery Walk that was used to jump start both ideas and conversation around the "Choice Projects" We decided that these will have very loose parameters (Stretch your learning, includes an instructional connection, transferable) and that you will be creating your own assessment tool for your choice project. We will give more information about this next Monday.

Thanks for your patience, questions, participation, idea generating, etc.! You are awesome!

Wednesday was an awesome day in TED 8540! The introduction website, http://www.gliffy.com/, was a great resource for many of the students in class . . . and the ideas that came from this activity blew us away. What a ROCK STAR bunch of teachers we have in class! We also took a closer look at http://blabberize.com/. Many of the teacher experienced some technical difficulties with this site, but they are working to overcome those 'tech' obstacles. Good work with the problem solving and patience. Keep it up!

We also participated in some small group work (station rotations) and we covered Google Documents, Phonevite, an "above/below the line" activity, and spent some time blogging. Keep up the blogging - reflective practitioners make effective teachersl! :) To access your cohorts blogs, please check out the Google Document with our class links!

Can't wait for the rest of our time together!

Tuesday, June 8th

Awesome first day! Lots of questions and a high level of participation. We're very excited for the rest of the course.

Today, we'll be looking at two items: Blabberize and Voicethread. Blabberize is a site you can use for introductions or for reports on historical figures. Voicethread, again, is a fantastic site to use for online discussions.

Also, you'll receive some time to blog and explore some sites on your own.

Looking forward to another great day!

What a great day today is going to be! Well, actually it will be tomorrow . . . but let's face it . . . no one is reading this Sunday night except Ross and Skip. Speaking of us, let's applaud ourselves for the outstanding pose on the profile pic . . . the creativity and intrigue just spill through the computer screen.

Today we are going to check out a few different tech-related sites that will help you expand your repertoire of skills and tech-related experiences. You can click on the Prezi link below to access all related sites and articles.
